Serbian government to call parliamentary elections for March 16

The Serbian government would propose on January 28 2014 to president Tomislav Nikolic to dissolve parliament and to call elections for March 16, justice minister Nikola Selakovic said.

Selakovic said that January 29 is the deadline for calling the elections for March 16. Local elections in Belgrade are scheduled for the same day.

Last weekend, Serbian Progressive Party leader Aleksandar Vucic (photo) said he would propose to the party presidency that elections be called; subsequently. The party presidency adopted his suggestion unanimously.
