What’s on: 2013 Sofia Dance Week from October 5 to 19

The 2013 Sofia Dance Week, the sixth year the “week” is being held, starts on October 5 and continues until October 19, showcasing performances from America, Asia and Europe – and, of course, Bulgaria.

The contemporary dance international festival includes performances and workshops. This year, Bulgarian Showcase, from October 11 to 13, is a new element.

A few samples from the programme:

On October 5, the festival opens with Compañía Sharon Fridman’s Al Menos Dos Caras at 7pm at the National Music Theatre, with tickets costing 10 and 15 leva.

October 7 sees the UK’s 2 Faced Dance Company with Out of His Skin, along with a post-show talk with the artists. The performance starts at the Nikolay Binev Youth Theatre at 7pm and tickets cost 10 and 15 leva.

A Korean Gala is on October 9, at the National Music Theatre at 7pm, featuring three pieces – Here I Am, Accompany and Transformed Senses.

Bulgarian choreographer and performance artist Ivo Dimchev’s P Project is at the Modern Theatre on October 10 at 9pm, with tickets costing 10 and 15 leva.

On October 12, the Derida Dance and Central Europe Dance Theatre perform Monocrossing at the National Palace of Culture, NDK, at 6.30pm.

Swedish choreographer and film director Gunilla Heilborn stages This is Not a Love Story at the Nikolay Binev Youth Theatre on October 14 at 7pm. Tickets are 10 and 15 leva.
