Three companies receive German-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce awards

Lufthansa Technik, Liebherr and Winterhalder received awards at the annual German economy gala organised by the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GBCCI) in Sofia on January 29.

The awards are meant to recognise the companies with the largest contribution to bilateral economic relations between Germany and Bulgaria, but are not limited to members of GBCCI.

Lufthansa Technik Bulgaria, a joint venture between Germany’s Lufthansa Technik and Bulgarian conglomerate Chimimport, received the award reserved for large companies for its project to increase its aircraft maintenance and repairs capacity, which added 250 new jobs.

The award to a small or medium-sized company went to Winterhalder Bulgaria, which manufactures self-adhesive and foam products, as well as packaging materials, at a factory near Plovdiv. Last year, the company increased its production capacity, doubling the number of its employees to 46.

Liebherr Hausgeräte Maritsa received the “open category” award for its professional education centre and its Aktiv Green campaign that saw Liebherr employees and their families clean Plovdiv’s parks.
