Bulgaria’s May 23 -25 long weekend weather outlook

Bulgaria is set for mainly rainy weather over the May 23 – 25 2026 long weekend, according to the national meteorological bureau.

In 2026, May 24 – the Day of Saints Cyril and Methodius and the Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture and Slavonic Literature – is on a Sunday, resulting in a special public holiday on May 25.

The bureau said that over the weekend, there will be short bursts of rain in many places, with thunderstorms and hail.

Significant amounts of rain are forecast for Saturday, mainly in northern Bulgaria. There will be moderate north-northwesterly winds, in eastern Bulgaria, northeasterly winds, which will strengthen on Sunday. Maximum temperatures will be between 19° and 24° Celsius.

On Monday and Tuesday, the rain will ease, falling mainly in the afternoon and with greater probability in mountainous areas. There will be more sunny hours. The northeasterly wind will weaken, turn from west-southwest and daytime temperatures will increase, the bureau said.
