Eurostat: Unemployment in Bulgaria in January 2026 was 3.1%

Unemployment in Bulgaria in January 2026 was 3.1 per cent, down from 3.2 per cent in December 2025 and from 3.6 per cent in January 2025, European Union statistics agency Eurostat said on March 4, citing seasonally-adjusted data.

Eurostat said that in January 2026, the euro area seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 6.1 per cent, down from 6.2 per cent in December 2025 and from 6.3 per cent in January 2025.

The EU unemployment rate was 5.8 per cent in January 2026, also down from 5.9 per cent in December 2025 and from 6.0 per cent in January 2025. 

In January 2026, the youth unemployment rate was 15.1 per cent in the EU, down from 15.2 per cent in the previous month, and 14.8 per cent in the euro area, also down from 15.0 per cent in December 2025.

In Bulgaria, youth unemployment in January 2026 was 12.4 per cent, up from 12.3 per cent in December 2025 and from 9.8 per cent in January 2025, Eurostat said.
