The 10 best ‘Bulgarianised’ Hollywood film titles

Imagine Cary Grant climbing the roofs of Old Town Plovdiv in “To Catch a Thief”, or Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh kissing on the main square in Veliko Tarnovo in “Gone with the Wind”. If Hollywood was in Bulgaria instead of California (which by the way it is, at least in a way), its big movies would definitely look and sound different.

In “Heat”, Robert DeNiro and Val Kilmer would be robbing a big bank in Kostenets, instead of in Los Angeles. In “The Godfather”, Marlon Brando and Al Pacino would be mafiosi in Slanchev Briag. And in “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, Indiana Jones would be squeezing himself into caves in the Rila mountains.

But what would those big movie titles sound like, if they were all Bulgarian? This is the top 10 list.

10. Gangs of Gabrovo

9. Pernik Has Fallen

8. Pirates of the Black Sea

7. Vratsa Buyer’s Club

6. Last Tango in Blagoevgrad

5. Escape from Bourgas

4. The Bridges of Silistra County

3. From Rousse With Love

2. Sleepless in Plovdiv

1. The Razgrad Chainsaw Massacre
