In coming days this March, Foreigners and Friends Magazine is joining forces with The Sofia Globe in a move that also will see the launch of a German-language daily section of, all under The Sofia Globe banner.

For The Sofia Globe, this is among the biggest steps forward since its launch at the beginning of June 2012.

Existing content from Foreign and Friends Magazine, adding up to more than 1000 stories posted online since its July 2016 launch, will be transferred to the site. As part of the transition, visitors to the site will be redirected to

F&F Magazine founder Imanuel Marcus is joining The Sofia Globe as Associate Editor.

Clive Leviev-Sawyer, publisher and Editor-in-Chief of The Sofia Globe, said: “We at the Globe have been working very well on an informal basis for many months with Imanuel and – as we also do with Bulgaria Now and – and it was clear the time had come to strengthen that co-operation”.

The Deutsch section will include the most important stories coming out of Bulgaria in the fields of politics, economics and culture, all written by The Sofia Globe team.

The Sofia Globe’s traditional English-language coverage will be boosted by more extensive coverage of leisure, entertainment and culture stories, as well as information of interest and relevance to expatriates.

Marcus said that with the move, readers would have everything in one place – articles in English and in German on Bulgaria and the region, while the synergy created by joining forces would be used to make the joint project even stronger.

Independently and solely owned by Leviev-Sawyer since its founding, The Sofia Globe has been the sole English-language news and features website in Bulgaria run solely by foreigners who are also experienced professional journalists. The addition of German-born Imanuel Marcus adds a new string to its bow.

In the years it has been online, The Sofia Globe has built up a strong following of many hundreds of thousands of readers a year from within Bulgaria, South Eastern Europe and across the world, especially in the United Kingdom and United States. From the time of its launch, Foreigners and Friends Magazine has grown rapidly in its readership among expatriates, foreigners and everyone else.
