Serbian Publication: Donald J. Trump is from Western Bulgaria

Trump here, Trump there. We can not live through any day without hearing that name at least a few times. In order to avoid hearing it, we would have to lock ourselves into some closet and swallow the key. Listening to his so-called speeches hurts and makes many of us wonder when the Americans will finally get him out of there.

But now a Serbian publication, “Srbija Danas” (“Serbia today”), reported, Donald J. Trump, the President of the United States of America, was half Serbian and half Bulgarian. These news are hard to digest. In case they prove to be true one day, it will be even worse.

“Srbija Danas” is quoting Todor Dichev, a former Bulgarian ambassador to Japan, saying Trump’s ancestors were from Stara Planina (the Balkan mountain range). To be precise: According to that Serbian paper, the Trumps are from the Bulgarian village of Tran, which is located right there, at the border to Serbia, not so far from the Kalotina border checkpoint.

“I’m surprised nobody else talks about this”, Dichev supposedly said. Well, there are two possible reasons for that: Either nobody else knows or the whole thing belongs into the category “alternative facts”, along with the “Bowling Green Massacre” and everything else we hear, unless we are locked in a closet.

The story about Trump’s origin changes about every five minutes. For a long time, he insisted his family was Swedish. Then it turned out they were actually from the small town of Kallstadt in Germany. Did they move there from Stara Planina a few centuries ago? Tough one.
