Ohhh, dammit! It’s Steve Gadd. Steve GADD! S-T-E-V-E G-A-D-D! Hell! Yes, he will be at Sofia’s Joystation venue, on September 21st, 2016. He will be performing with his Steve Gadd Band. We can expect Contemporary Jazz and Fusion at its finest. No surprise here, also when we look at his band members, which include guitar hero Michael Landau.

Steve Gadd has been here before, with the late Joe Sample. I know because I co-organized that gig, back then, at the National Palace of Culture. This time it’s different.

Gadd has recorded more albums than any other drummer on this planet, maybe with the exception of John Robinson. And he has recorded some of the most famous ones and some of the best ones (two very different categories). Listing all the albums he is on does not lead anywhere. When I tried to copy and paste all of them, I had 25 pages. So, see for yourself, in the official Steve Gadd Discography.

But let’s look at some of them. The album “Aja” by Steely Dan is one of the most important recordings in Pop history. Who is on it? Gadd. Who is responsible for the legendary drum roll at the end of “Aja”, the title track? Gadd. Lots of amateur drummers must have thrown their sets out the window, when they heard that one.

How can I put it? This guy is on every single album ever! Al Jarreau’s “Breakin’ Away”, he played with all the Pauls: Paul Simon, Paul McCartney and so forth. But also with the most brilliant Jazz artists of all time, including Hubert Laws, Grover Washington Jr.. Everyone!

Yes, he is coming to Sofia. Yes, tickets are available here. This is no satire and no scam. It’s Gadd. He will be here.
