Ekaterina, an 18-year-old from Germany, just finished her “Abitur”, the equivalent of an A-Level in Britain, a High School Diploma in the U.S., or the “Matura” in Bulgaria. Now she is en Route to Bulgaria, for her first long stay abroad.

She will take part in a social project, organized by a Christian charity organization. She had the possibility to choose between several projects. Her pick: An anti-racism awareness programme. For six months, she will be working with young students, at an undisclosed location in Bulgaria, a country in which racism is a big issue indeed. Ekaterina prepared for this endeavour, by visiting several seminars.

The German publication Remscheider Generalanzeiger asked her what she will probably miss most, while in Bulgaria. Her answer: Sparkling water. So far, she has never liked the soda she was offered abroad.
