The ongoing industrial action by German pilots union Vereinigung Cockpit, which announced their intention to extend their strike to November 29-30, will result in the cancellation of 10 Sofia flights on those two days.
As during the first three days of the work stoppage last week, these would be three flights bound for Munich and two for Frankfurt, with the corresponding flights in the opposite direction also scrapped.
The pilots union called for a strike for Lufthansa flights from Germany on continental flights on November 29, expanding the industrial action to cover continental and intercontinental routes from Germany on November 30.
The flights operated by Lufthansa Group airlines Germanwings, Eurowings, Air Dolomiti, Austrian Airlines, SWISS and Brussels Airlines would remain again unaffected. Lufthansa said it was apologising for the disruption caused by the strike and was introducing a special flight schedule on November 29-30.
Vereinigung Cockpit’s strike is the result of a long-standing dispute between Lufthansa and the union over pay rises, which has disrupted the airline’s operations repeatedly over the past year.
