“Zhenski Pazar”, the “Women’s Market” in the heart of Sofia, is one of those places you ought to see. It looks a little less exotic than before, since the place recently had a major makeover. But, compared to most of the city center of Sofia, this market seems like the “real Bulgaria”, meaning it still has part of its charm. Walking around here is like time travel, at least a little.
They sell it all: Water pipes, fruit, veggies, nuts, fish, coffee, Bulgarian bakery products, such as banitsa, t-shirts, pants, chocolate. Well, it’s all. Many elderly people, Bulgarian Roma, but also tourists are wandering around this location. Some vendors do not want their merchandise photographed, but others do not mind.
