These were the times when "Mafia Beach" was still Slanchev Briag, or "Sunny Beach".

Another one from Slanchev Briag. The Black Sea was probably cleaner too, back then.

Oh! How peaceful and quiet Sofia must have been, some 100 years ago.

Germans are avid collectors. Stamps, beermats, Mercedes stars, they will collect anything, including old postcards. There is an online portal, picclick.de, on which postcard collectors buy and sell those. Hundreds of the postcards they are offering, were printed in Bulgaria decades ago.

Who would have known that Aleksandar Nevski Cathedral looked so much nicer, when they had flowers right next to it? Boulevard Mariya Luiza looked a lot calmer and pretty interesting too.

Slanchev Briag must have been a lot more quiet back then, obviously, and probably a lot cleaner too.

As we can see on that postcard from Kiyustendil, the dresses were nicer back then as well. Our favourite: That lady picking grapes.

Most post cards available on this site are around 5 to 6 Euro.

Click the pictures in order to enlarge them. Some of them are big, others are not.

Recently, we had another post, about “Lost Bulgaria”, the best source for historic photos from Bulgaria.
