A group of independent, individually-owned websites in Bulgaria, including The Sofia Globe, have joined forces in an informal working partnership called the Bulgarian Independent Media Alliance (BIMA).
The media involved include Bulgaria Now, The Sofia Globe, Foreigners & Friends Magazine, Bansko Blog and the Bansko App – a group whose combined audience reaches many hundreds of thousands of – already, close to a million – people in Bulgaria, the region of South Eastern Europe and around the world.
The Bulgarian Independent Media Alliance brings together editorial leaderships who treasure our
independence, respect the visitors to our sites by giving them reliable, interesting and useful
information, are subject to no behind-the-scenes political or business control and are the leaders in
telling the world – in English and other languages – about this country and the region.
BIMA also brings together our audiences – foreigners, expatriates, visitors and travellers to Bulgaria, and Bulgarians themselves – through the exchange of content and participation in joint editorial projects such as regular informative and entertaining podcasts. Further exciting joint projects on which the team is working will be going online in the months to come.
Informal co-operation among the group dates back a few weeks and now is being made public – as BIMA also will be recruiting support from advertisers keen on taking advantage on the ever-growing audience provided through our cross-platform co-operation.
Starting today, all articles, podcasts and other published items by the media involved can now be followed and clicked on the BIMA Facebook Page.
BIMA is a joint project by Clive Leviev-Sawyer, owner of The Sofia Globe, Lancelot Nelson, owner of Bulgaria Now and banskoblog.com, and Imanuel Marcus of Foreigners and Friends Magazine. Our team boasts a variety of nationalities – just like our international and expatriate audiences.
On the launch of BIMA, Foreigner and Friends Magazine’s Imanuel Marcus said: “These publications belong together. It feels natural, because of the target groups we share. Because of our different approaches regarding content, it’s a perfect match.”
The Sofia Globe’s Leviev-Sawyer: “BIMA brings together what belongs together – people sharing the same commitments, and readerships that are similar but do not completely overlap, thus widening our footprint. I see that as a significant step forward for The Sofia Globe, one of the most important ones since our 2012 launch”.
And Bulgaria Now’s Lance Nelson: “”BIMA is enriching our content. I’m delighted to be part of something that seems so right. But most of all, I’m excited for the future of what we’ll create together.”
