The number of direct flights to European cities offered by cheap carriers from Sofia keeps on increasing. While, in the years leading up the Bulgaria’s EU accession, Bulgarian authorities were fighting to keep cheap airlines out of the country, the opposite effect is being registered now.
Ryanair, one of the three largest cheap carriers, just started flying from Sofia to the northern German city of Hamburg, one of the nicest cities in Germany. These flights are being offered three times a week: on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, from Sofia Airport’s Terminal 1. Until recently, passengers on their way to Hamburg had to go via Lufthansa hubs in Munich or Frankfurt, or construct other flight connections via other European countries.
From Sofia, Ryanair offers a total of 21 connections. Those include the following cities and towns:
Baden-Baden (new connection as well)
From Plovdiv, Ryanair flies to Stansted as well.
