Aleksandar Ivanov is a name quite a few boys and men have, in Bulgaria and Macedonia. But 99.9% of them might not even know what a violin looks like. This Aleksandar Ivanov is 15 years old, and he plays like Paganini.
He is a member of a musical family, and therefore started playing the violin at age 7. Soon it became clear that he would not be just another violin player, but that he is a genius on this instrument. At age 9, when most boys play football and computer games, Aleksandar was busy winning his first prize, at the State Competition in Skopje. In the past three years, he was drowned in honours and prizes.
On top of all of this, the teenager from Skopje visits master classes taught by the best in the field, and he performs a lot. Recently, he hit a stage in Sofia, at the European Music Festival. And that was just one of many.
Things are looking bright for this young violin genius. Just now, he was accepted at the prestigious “Richard Wagner Konservatorium” in Vienna. The only issue: The tuition is 10,000 Euro per year, while Aleksandar comes from one of the poorest countries in Europe. That is why, his family has set up a funding campaign. This Sunday morning, only 275 Dollars had been collected, while the goal is 10,000 Dollars.
