The public transport system in Sofia has issues, to say the least. At the same time, things have improved in the past 15 years. The Metro used to be a ridiculous lineup of a few stations and therefore basically a show off-item, which also served the psychological well-being of people at City Hall. Well, not anymore. The third Metro line, which should have been built in 1975, will be ready in 2019. The Metro in Sofia is definitely the most reliable and fastest transport in the city. We would recommend using it whenever possible.
