First Christmas full moon since…

The last time there was full moon on Christmas Day, it was the year that the Commodore PET computer was introduced, the first all-in-one home computer. It used audio cassette tapes to store programs.

Filmwise, Star Wars was released, changing cinema for all time, for better or worse. The film was not yet known as Episode IV: A New Hope. That would be added in 1981.

In the world of music, the biggest single of the year was “Hotel California” by the Eagles. In Europe, the big songs were “Mull of Kintyre” by Paul McCartney and Wings, and “Ma Baker” by Boney M.

Celebrity deaths included Elvis Presley and Groucho Marx.
