The holding of parliamentary elections on June 8 2014 been proposed by prime minister Hashim Thaci, who is awaiting consensus from all political parties in Kosovo on the date.

“My proposal is to hold elections on June 8. We must not waste time with unnecessary clashes which would damage our state,” Thaci said on May 2 in a media statement.

Thaci’s proposal for the election day has also been backed by the leader of the largest opposition party, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Isa Mustafa.
