Rain forecast for Bulgaria’s holiday weekend

Those hoping for warm and sunny weather on the first weekend of spring – a three-day one at that, given that Bulgaria will celebrate Liberation Day on March 3 – will be disappointed by the clouds and rain forecast from the country’s meteorology institute.

While the daily highs are forecast to be higher than the usual for early March (warm weather has been the norm rather than the exception this winter), the skies are expected to be covered by clouds for most of the weekend.

Rain has been forecast for Friday night in south-eastern Bulgaria and in the south on Saturday, March 1, spreading to cover the entire country on Sunday, meteorologist Anna Dyakova told Focus news agency.

Some wind has been foreast for Sunday, but daily highs over the weekend are expected to remain in the double digits, reaching up to 16C on Saturday and 11C on Sunday. The skies are expected to begin clearing on Monday, when daily highs are expected to reach 13C.
