JS Bach’s St Matthew Passion at Sofia University on April 24

For the seventh consecutive year, ahead of the celebration in Bulgaria of the Orthodox Christian Easter, JS Bach’s St Matthew Passion will be performed, at the Great Hall (Aula Maxima) of Sofia University on April 24 2013 at 7pm.

The conductor will be Yosif Gerdzhikov and Austrian tenor Virgil Hartinger special guest performer. Hartinger will perform the role of the Evangelist.

The work is based on the chapters 26 and 27 of the Gospel According to St Matthew, which tells the story of Jesus on his final path to crucifixion.

The event is in support of Sofia’s bid to be European Capital of Culture 2019.

Tickets are available at the Cantus Firms office at Bulgaria Hall, online at ticketsbg.com or at the venue on the day of the performance.
